effective and sustainable solutions in bird pest control. These species,
while common, can cause serious problems in both urban and
industrial areas.
COLUMBA LIVIA
Feral pigeon
They are the birds most adapted to city life. They inhabit abandoned buildings, gaps in facades, or rooftops. They can lay 2-3 clutches per year, with 2 eggs each. They form stable pairs, and both participate in caring for the chicks. They carry numerous pathogens potentially harmful to humans and are epidemiological reservoirs. Additionally, they can cause allergies and expose people to vectors (ticks, mites, fleas, flies), inhalation of infectious aerosols (histoplasmosis and psittacosis), contamination of water/food, and pose risks to aviation.
